Dr Kyle Galloway obtained his M.Sci. in Chemistry at the University of Glasgow in July 2005. His studies continued at Glasgow with the award of a prestigious Carnegie Scholarship to pursue research that was started during an undergraduate project, and he was also awarded the Robertson Medal for the most outstanding application of the year. The research investigated “New Routes to Single Molecule Magnets” under the supervision of Dr Mark Murrie and Dr Robert Peacock, with particular interest in the effect of molecular structure on magnetic properties and the role of the counterion in self assembly reaction conditions. Dr Galloway was awarded his Ph.D. in July 2009 and then moved to the University of Nottingham as a Teaching Fellow in Inorganic Chemistry. In 2015 he was promoted to Assistant Professor of Chemistry Education. Dr Galloway has won the Lord Dearing Award for his outstanding contribution to the development of teaching and student learning, which was presented in July 2015. In February 2018 Dr Galloway became the Director of Teaching and Learning in the School of Chemistry and was also given the role of Educational Excellence Group Faculty Lead for Science. In 2020 he was promoted to Associate Professor of Chemistry Education. In 2021 Dr Galloway won a Lord Dearing Team Award for outstanding contribution to the enhancement of the student experience, as Team Lead in the Chemistry Apprenticeship Development Team. In 2023 he received a further Lord Dearing Team Award as part of the Chemistry Laboratory Development Group.
