Katherine completed her MChem degree at the University of Bath, followed by a PhD at the University of Warwick, where she developed novel ruthenium catalysts for asymmetric hydrogenation. She subsequently held postdoctoral research positions at the Universities of Leeds and Southampton, working in collaboration with industry to advance sustainable, continuous methodologies for key synthetic transformations.

In 2019, Katherine joined the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham as a Teaching Associate and was promoted to Assistant Professor in Chemical Education in 2022. She completed her PGCHE in 2021 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Katherine is Course Director for the MSci Chemistry with a Year in Industry programme and also Careers Officer for the School. She teaches organic chemistry and business/entrepreneurial skills across undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes. Katherine’s contributions to teaching and curriculum development were recognised with a University of Nottingham Lord Dearing Award for Teaching and Learning in 2021 as part of the Apprenticeship Development Team.
