Anna Bertram is Director of Laboratory Teaching and Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham, where she leads strategy and innovation in practical chemistry education for over 500 undergraduates. Her work centres on curriculum design, digital learning, and enhancing student experience through evidence-based practice.
Anna contributes nationally to chemical education through the Chemistry Teaching in Practice group and the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) Chemistry Education Research Group. A Fellow of the RSC and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE, she combines leadership with coaching and mentorship, supporting colleagues across the University and contributing to strategic development.
Her contributions have been recognised through multiple awards, including the Royal Society of Chemistry Team Prize for Excellence in Higher Education (2024), the Lord Dearing Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (2023 & 2020), and the School of Chemistry Teaching Excellence Award (2022). These honours reflect her commitment to innovative, inclusive, and impactful chemistry education.
